Sakura (桜, Sakura) was the former lieutenant of the 1st Division, headed by Daisuke Yamamoto, and as such, was replaced by Lirin. She was presumed to have been having a love affair with her captain.

Appearance[]

Sakura was a considerably attractive woman with long black hair tied back in a loose ponytail and short bangs over her forehead with two stray hairs, and soft brown eyes. She had fair skin, and was well-known for being curvacous, one of the reasons her captain was attracted to her and consistently flirted with her.

Instead of wearing the standard uniform of a Shinigami, she chose to wear instead, the outfit of a miko, or priestess, consisting of red hakama, a white haori, white tabi and simple sandals. She also wore a long red ribbon tied around her neck, and a short white ribbon in her hair, the latter of which is a trademark of miko.

Personality[]

Sakura was a kind, sweet woman who cared deeply for her captain and her subordinates. Though usually remaining within the Seireitei, Sakura mantained an orphanage in Rukongai where several children went for food and shelter. She deeply loved Daisuke, and often risked her life for him, something that caused her death. Sakura's hobbies included playing tag using Shunpō or spending time with Yoruichi Shihōin, whom was something of a surrogate mother for her.

Sakura was considerably blunt, as in a flashback, when she was asked by Akira Zaraki if she loved Daisuke, she blatantly replied yes.

While Sakura's Zanpakutō's name, shikai, or even its release command was never revealed, she was seen using it in the series, and instead of being a katana, it is a bow and arrow.

Trivia[]

Sakura originally was designed to have become an Arrancar after her supposed death, but Katie, the creator, decided it was "too cruel for Daisuke to know his lieutenant had survived and had become what he was supposed to destroy".
