Shime Kuchiki is the lieutenant of the Thirteenth Division in the Gotei 13. Her captain is Cece Akubara. She replaced her mother, Rukia Kuchiki, in watching over Karakura Town. She is a central character in the series.

Shime reflects Rukia in several ways. She has long dark black-purple hair, with two bangs on either side of her face, one of which has two hairpins in it and a single strand over the bridge of her nose with the rest in a long ponytail and dark green, often negative eyes.
Shime wears the traditional Shinigami uniform, wearing the "Punishment Squad"-style uniform underneath this which allows for her back to be revealed much and for easy movement. She wears gloves on her arms, that have a single piece which runs between her middle finger and ring finger. Her Zanpakutō is held at her right side.

Shime can be described as an exact mirror of Rukia, regarding both her personality and appearance. She is typically quiet, choosing only to say anything when she has something to input about important subjects.
